Happy Mother's Day

Our day began with a nice little family breakfast and then we headed to the park and river just down the hill from our house. Steve and I enjoyed a mostly leisurely walk, while Peyton went on his farthest and most adventurous bike ride yet.
Each day he's stronger, faster and more steady on his little glider bike and has been loving the freedom of riding by himself outside this spring. At times, just in the last few days, he really does get rolling along and we have to quicken our pace to a brisk walk or occasionally a flat out jog to keep up with our adventure rider.

Yesterday's outing took his skills to a whole new level as he bravely steered his bike "off road" onto the gravelly path to the river and with no hesitation cruised through giant mud puddles.
The only fear this kiddo had yesterday was when he crossed paths with a slug. Evidently slugs are a mysterious and frightful animal. After much discussion and observation, we reached a level of peace with the slug and were happy to move along on our LONG ride home.

We joined extended family at my parents in the evening for a lovely Mother's Day dinner and celebration. It was a wonderful day indeed.
Happy Mother's Day!
