Peyton’s 4th grade class took a field trip to Kennedy Creek last Thursday. The last time I was able to enjoy this field trip was 3-years ago with Allison's preschool class. Going again, with 4th graders, did not disappoint. An added bonus was having volunteer docent, Jack Havens (a family friend), guide Peyton's class along the trail. It was a lovely foggy, but dry, morning in the woods. While dry weather was appreciated, it meant the water level in the creek was low, which equates to fewer fish overall, as well. Still, we were able to see some of the Chum salmon that make their way up Kennedy Creek from Tottem Inlet. The kids enjoyed seeing the salmon they have been studying in the classroom, up close. Getting kids out of the classroom is always entertaining and educational for everyone!
