During the days leading up to Christmas, Peyton had been slowly depleting his sleep reserves. Not only were his naps few and far between, his night time sleep started to mirror his day time sleep...hard to come by. I think Peyton's average number of sleep hours in a 24 hour period was around 8 (Steve's was around 6 or 7 and mine, well, who's counting anyway?). How can this be? The reading I've come across indicates that most babies his age should be getting around 14-16 hours of sleep in 24 hours. "Around" of course implies something close to the recommended amount. We weren't even close. I just knew we were fast approaching a total melt down if something didn't change. And if it wasn't Peyton who melted, I most certainly would.
Fortunately, no meltdown was necessary. Peyton gifted us a full night of sleep Christmas Eve and a 2 hour nap Christmas Day. Santa does make miracles happen! Peyton was an absolute and total joy on Christmas.
The three of us enjoyed a quiet morning together before braving the bumpy and slick snow and ice covered roads to Grandma and Grandpa's (my parents) house. Our Little Dude is one loved little dude because also joining us for our Christmas celebration were his Nana and Papa (Steve's parents), Aunt Hazel and Uncle Gavin and Great Aunt Mollie and Great Uncle Brian.

Neglected, he is not. Spoiled? Well, maybe. Loved? Most definitely!
