Peyton's Impromptu Science Experiment:
The Volcano!
Peyton's school is preparing for the upcoming science fair. While Peyton has made no mention of the actual school fair, he is very excited by the reading materials made available to the kids in the library. He came home on library day with science books and a keen interest to do a science experiment. So, you can imagine his delight when he asked us at dinner if we could do one. In a matter of minutes our dinner table was transformed into a science lab.
Preparing for the experiment is 1/2 the fun!
Next, we handed over the necessary ingredients: Baking soda and vinegar, but not before discussing what we thought/hoped would happen.
Prediction: an explosion, of course!
(Disclaimer, we have done this a time or two, although it's been many months, and we've never done it with such planning and gusto!)
Result:
Voila! Baking soda and vinegar really does work! Our volcano erupted again and again and again and again...and then we were out of vinegar.
A secondary observation:
This was great fun for the whole family.
