My Morning with Peyton

A couple of weeks ago Allison had school, but Peyton did not.  He obliged his sister by staying for circle time at her preschool and then accompanied me on a lovely fall walk through Tumwater Falls Park.  It occurred to me that these are those moments, those rare, pure and ever so special moments.  The ones you dream about on all those sleepless nights with a sleepless baby; On those crazy, hectic, busy days; In the midst of a cranky, crabby, crying day;  Or, a sick day; When doing your best just doesn't seem good enough; When you expect too much and when the smile you cherish is a droopy frown looking back at you; While your kids are away at school.  Then, suddenly you open your eyes and see (hopefully while the moment is happening) that you have arrived, right where you wanted (and needed) to be in the quiet, peaceful, unplanned, meandering together, just being together, moment.  I think Peyton enjoyed it too.  However, what he really wanted to do with his time off from school was to just enjoy some quiet time at home.  We made time for both before we picked up Allison and returned home in time for lunch.  My mommy moment was over.  Like a good picture, this moment is a keeper and I'll treasure it.
