Staycation "Down the Bay"

Just another summer sunset "down the bay."

Steve, Peyton and I enjoyed a wonderful "staycation" last week at my parents' house, "down the bay," while they were away on a business vacation. Because of the fact that they live on the water with the most incredible view of the Olympic Mountains and summer sunsets (and because there are more rooms to occupy compared to our own "cozy" home) it really felt like we were staying at our own private resort. Even though our work week was business as usual, it just didn't feel like work while we were there.

Only moments after we arrived on the first day, Peyton crawled to the staircase, glanced up casually and then much to our surprise, crawled right up 3 stairs! Maybe I should have packed a baby gate?

Mommy & Peyton duet: making a musical noise.

Who needs toys, when you can play with Grandpa's exercise equipment?
Note to self: buy a ball to invest in family fun!

Beach combing.

For some wonderful reason - maybe all the peace and quiet, or the fact that he was so overly exhausted from his previous couple of weeks of non-stop crawling and monkeying around, or perhaps because he was sleeping in his pack-n-play which created a closed-in, swaddle-like, cozy feeling, but alas, we'll never know - Peyton slept like a champ. He went right down for naps without a peep and snoozed for several long hours at a time and still maintained his generous 12-hour nighttime sleep pattern for us. He was delightful. It was delightful.

Thanks, Mom & Dad for sharing a piece of paradise with us.
