We spent Sunday trying to make some more headway on our next home improvement project, a shed. We've wanted a shed for a while, but ever since we brought home The Chariot (Peyton's bike carriage) and have been using our bikes regularly, we've lost our garage. In an effort to take back the garage and provide shelter for our cars, the shed was moved to "top priority" on the long, long list of projects we have.
The project actually got started last weekend when Gavin and Hazel drove down to help. While we totally appreciate their willingness to drive down in the rain to help with some serious back-breaking work and while they totally deserve a truck load of thanks, let me interject for a moment to just casually mention that they passed up on previous years' projects (3 day weekend deck building that took 3 months, river rock removal that was eventually hired out...to name a few) and were coerced this time with the promise of a BBQ, lively Ireland trip planning discussions, cold Guiness and a nagging reminder that they did, in fact, owe us a favor for helping them install bamboo flooring several years ago...I'm just saying!
All kidding aside, we can't sing enough praises for all the help we were given last weekend. We managed to get done just exactly what we had planned and it was so much more fun with family there to help. Oh yeah, and they got to spend time with their nephew too, who absolutely adores them.
Last Sunday:
Prepping the site and pouring the concrete foundation.

Helping Daddy build a shed, in the rain.
