Beauty and the Beast
Peyton and I enjoyed a wonderful and long over due mommy and son date yesterday. Olympia High School's spring musical is Beauty and the Beast this year. They offered a Saturday matinee performance, which was perfect for the younger audience members like ourselves. My cousin's daughter, Marissa, was in the show. So it was a double bonus to watch this charming musical at the kid friendly hour and to see Marissa on stage looking so grown up! It was Peyton's first musical theater performance. He's been to a few children's plays, and one screen movie, but this was, by far, the longest he's had to sit quietly and watch. He did great. He did get a little antsy in the second act, but with a few reminders, quieted down and watched the show. After, we headed to pizza for an early dinner and more quality time together. Peyton is old enough now that he doesn't need all the accompanying baggage that we have for Allison. I had forgotten how easy it is to just walk out the door and be on our way. He's also a heck of a lot of fun - easy to talk with, great sense of humor, and one handsome little dude. I cherish the moments we have together, just the two of us.
