Adventure Walk

Earlier in the month we decided it would be fun to head out on an adventure walk.  We hoped to find signs of wildlife around our neighborhood.  While I cleaned up the lunch dishes, the kids got themselves ready.  Adventure walk must-haves included:  adventure packs filled with a pencil and paper to journal, toy camera, magnifying glass and books.  Hiking accessories included: headlamp, hats, colorful beaded necklaces (lots of these), tiger mask.  With all the necessary items packed, we headed outdoors.  It was a pleasant walk and we enjoyed our time together, but our discoveries were disappointing.  Other than a few early flower blooms and buds, an occasional dog bark, a flock of birds overhead and a dead worm, there wasn't much wildlife to be seen.  We decided being that it was afternoon, all the animals were seeking shelter from the rain storm looming in the distance and/or sleeping.  Hoping for better luck next time, we ended our walk and headed inside for nap time.  Like a high school dance, getting ready for the big event was perhaps the most memorable part.
