I took the kids out of the house for a walk-about at the nearby farm, Lattin's Cider Mill. As one of only a handful of visitors on this quiet and drizzly spring morning, we enjoyed the peace and quiet, checking out a few animals, mimicking their animal sounds, tromping around the deserted playground and maze and picking out some fresh cider to take home as a little treat, but felt a bit like intruders in the animal world. Many animal mommy's were proud to show-off their animal babies (goats and hens), but others were sheltering and even hiding them from view (we had hoped to see the baby lambs, but they had wondered away from the public view). Only a short drive from home, it is a complete transformation from our usual surroundings; it's wonderful to be able to enjoying a hands-on, educational experience on the farm.
It was also a way to celebrate the day and the littlest among us, Allison. Allison is 21-Months old today. Much of what we do is driven by the needs and interests of the other members of the family. I feel much guilt around this fact. So, this outing was intended and designed around Allison's interests and napping schedule!
Happy 21-Month Birthday, Allison!
