I believe this was our 5th Annual Weekend with The Barnes Family. We've opted for the simpler and familiar option of the beach house the previous two years, but this year we decided to brave the elements and many possible unknowns, and try our hand once again, at camping. Our destination: Lake Wenatchee State Park. East of the maintains seemed a safer bet for warmer weather mid-June. Indeed, the weather was in our favor and made the experience much easier and more enjoyable than extreme cold or wet, so we were lucky there. Our camp site was a safe distance away from the lake and any other major hazard, for that matter, yet near enough to the lake to make it an easy destination via bike. The paddle boards and inflatable raft were a big hit for all the kids, both big and small, and the sandy shore and nearby park were each an added perk. The loop around the campsite offered the kids a nice, paved bike route, as well. Our kids turned out to be quite the little campers. They were helpful, played well together most of the time and were quite a lot of fun. Oh, and ditto on the above compliments for our husbands, as well. I'd say it was a success for both families!
