Point Defiance Zoo Outing with Ella Rose

Grama and I took the kids to meet Ella and Anna for a play date at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium today.  As is often the case, with our zoo outings, my kids were tired and hungry before we even began the animal tour.  Since it also happened to be a major field trip day, the crowds of people were a bit more overwhelming than usual.  Still, the sea life, elephant, baby tiger, monkey's and penguins caught the attention of my kids.  But, it wasn't long before our group detoured to the grass for a picnic.  Refueled, we had a chance to view a few more animals (walrus and otter's were a hit).  However, in the heat of the day. many animals had hunkered down for an afternoon nap (polar bears, included), and this left my overtired kids crankier than ever!  I guess they weren't too cranky for a stop and the overcrowded playground because they begged and pleaded and like they also do, had a fantastic time playing at the zoo's play area.  All in all, we loved our outing and special time with Grama, Ella and Anna.  I just noticed the date, June 6th, and while we aren't officially celebrating, it was also a great way to spend Peyton's 4 3/4 birthday.
