Santa Visit and the Annual Tree Hunt

It feels like there are some years when Santa is hard to find during the weeks and days that lead up to Christmas.  Then, there are years like this one, where he seems to pop up everywhere and the opportunities to have a chat, with the jolly old man, are abundant.  We found him at The Barn Nursery this past weekend and both kids enjoyed the experience.

After our visit with Santa, we set out on our annual tree hunt.  When we arrived at the same private residence/tree farm we've visited most of the past several years, we were greeted by the same loyal and friendly dog and the same tree farm owner.

However, the owner was less than enthusiastic about his trees and wished us, "good luck" finding one that would meet our expectations.  A combination of draught and elk has taken a toll on all his trees, mature and new growth alike.

This was evident, and it may be a few years before we return, but we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves a tree we could be proud of.  Eagerly, we had it cut down and tied it to our car.  On our drive home, our hearts were full of excitement and all the anticipation of the Christmas spirit still to come this year.

"'Tis the season to be jolly.  Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!"
