When I stumbled into the bathroom this morning, Steve was already up and getting ready for the day. "It snowed!" he exclaimed, grinning ear to ear. A few minutes later, I heard the usual pitter-patter of Allison quickly moving through the hall. Then, there was silence. Suddenly she burst through the door and bounded into the room, "It snowed, it snowed. Mom, come look. It snowed!!" Unable to contain her enthusiasm, she screamed. We tried to encourage her excitement in a much quieter manner, but it only took another minute, or so, before Peyton awoke. He, too, immediately came into our room. Joy showed all over his face and bursting with energy, he shared that he woke up and peeked out his window to discover that, "It snowed!" Waking up to snow is always exciting, no matter how old you are.
While we did not get a full snow day, we did have a 2-hour late start and boy did we make the most of it! Allison quickly made plans for a snowman pancake breakfast followed by almost 2-hours of snow play. I had to entice the kids back indoors with hot cocoa and a warm snack. These are the moments we will remember. All before school. Our morning was snow much fun!!
