Second (annual) Great Christmas Tree Hunt

We woke up on Sunday and decided that with no rain in the forecast, it was the perfect day to set out on our Second (annual) Great Christmas Tree Hunt (as compared to previous years when we headed down to the market to select one of the pre-cut trees). A long-time family friend of mine has a nice little tree lot and lives just minutes away. It's the best of both worlds, we still get to choose, he did all the work - all but delivery and decorating - and we didn't have to drive very far! There's not much more to say other than it was a nice little family outing that now increases our chances of truly making this a holiday tradition.

Peyton was unbelievably excited and talked about getting the Christmas tree all morning. The actual act of choosing and cutting one was evidently serious business (note the expression on Peyton's face in every picture). I'm not sure he cracked a smile until we returned home with our tree at which time our little jitter bug just couldn't contain his enthusiasm any longer. Three days later he still wakes up and asks to decorate the tree a little bit more.

Judging by the joy a tree, a few twinkle lights and some ornaments are bringing to our house this year, I'm guessing that this holiday season will be a very merry and bright one for our family. 'Tis the season!
