Carpenter

If his love for trucks is waning, I failed to notice.
One morning last week I came upon this scene:  trucks all lined up, at attention, listening to Peyton's instructions for the day.   He concluded, "If you don't know what to do just look at the plan."  Sage advice.

One little boy.  One giant excavator.

These things look so prehistoric to me.

These big trucks are hard at work for the next several weeks tearing up the road right by our house.  Oh, joy! (Said with giddy anticipation from Peyton's perspective.  Incorporate sarcasm and irritation from mine.)

Exploring the loaders giant fork!

Peyton has announced however, that his interests are changing.  He seems to have discovered a new passion.  Carpentry.

P:  What are those people called who screw and hammer and nail?
Me:  Carpenter.
P:  Yeah.  I don't want to be one of the guys who drives the truck.  I want to be a carpenter.

A garage for his trucks.
Indeed, with the help of his dad, Peyton's outside construction site has acquired some new carpentry projects - mainly a garage for his trucks.  He is also apparently working on making a skyscraper.  According to Steve, he is quite good with the hammer.

  1. What is it with boys and excavators?! Ethan is also sooo fascinated with all things construction (and cars and planes). There are these cool videos about building a house, road, plane, etc. that he watches and he LOVES. Sandy and B are super particular about TV time so these definitely pass their 'educational' bar. In case you wanted to check them out. She has the full set of 8 and E loves them all. http://www.littlehardhats.com/movies-dvds.html
