What A Day, What a Day!

These past few days have been just the kind of day that make all the rainy days - for which the NW is notorious for - almost bearable. We took advantage of our break in the weather and enjoyed each glorious day to the fullest. On Sunday night, we welcomed Steve home after his long weekend in Arizona and were thrilled to be reminded that even though he had been gone for the weekend, our weekend wasn't over. He had Monday and Tuesday off. Yea!

Steve and I found time to enjoy a leisurely kayak in Budd Inlet late Monday afternoon. The water was calm and clear. The view of the Olympic Mountains was spectacular. What a day!

Steve: "Let's hurry up and take the picture so we can get in as many runs as possible before the snow gets too hot and slushy, or you [Katie] do. Get you're game on Parr!"
Katie: "Simmer down, Hot Rod! Let's linger and enjoy the view a while. The slopes will still be here this afternoon. I, on the other hand, may not!"

Yesterday we piled into the car with all kinds of gear, for all kinds of weather and adventure combinations, leaving just enough room for Kinetic Boy, his Mommy, Daddy and Grandma, and headed up to Crystal Mountain. The sky was crystal clear and the panoramic view was like I've never seen it at the top of the mountain. It was downright hot and the slopes were bare (of people). So was the lodge. There was still a surprising amount of snow. Well, maybe not surprising, since it did snow just last week at our house. While Steve and I skied, Grandma took Kinetic Boy snowshoeing!

It was a treat to have Grandma with us this time. I enjoyed our ski adventure a few weeks ago, but having an extra set of hands to help out was way more fun and relaxing. What a day!
