I'm not sure how it came about. In reflection, we had been playing in the dusting of snow that had fallen in the early morning of March 1st. Then, cold, tired, or maybe we had used up all the snow, we decided to head indoors for a warm treat: a latte for me and foamy milk for Peyton. As an added touch, I poured our milk into our fancy teacups. Talk of teacups led to tea parties and the mere mention of parties led us in the direction of yummy treats and of course cookies (we've had our share in recent weeks)! Feeling a need to be responsible and remind Peyton (and myself) that cookies were really a "sometimes" food, our discussion took yet another turn as we discussed the differences between cookies and vegetables; foods for everyday and special occasions. As our conversations often do, suddenly we were chatting about the weather and seasons and the calendar. Being just the first day of March, we hadn't changed our calendar yet. Well, low and behold, as soon as we were looking at the correct month we realized that Peyton's half birthday was just days away! A half birthday? A special occasion? The perfect time for a tea party (and cookies)!
So, we planned the special "half birthday" event. Made (and personalized) the invitations. Mailed them to our guests and anxiously waited for the big day to arrive.
March 6th: Tea Party Time!

All dressed up for tea time!

Cheers!

When given the choice to have real tea, or foamy milk, Peyton chose tea. I was surprised because he had never tasted tea. The day has come and gone. I still don't think he has ever tasted tea!

Peyton's special friend, Megan.

Allison slept through the party. So, here's Megan with Allison at the after party!
Naturally, they finished the party outside in the mud!

Happy half birthday to my happy 3 1/2 year old!
