Potlatch State Park

This past weekend, while enjoying the company of Cousin Tavares, we headed out on our first camping trip of the season.  Since Allison was wrapping up her baseball season Saturday morning, we knew we would get a late start to the camping trip, and chose Potlatch State Park, less than an hours drive away on Highway 101, near Hood Canal.  It's location was great, close to Olympia, right on the beach, in a wooded area that we had hoped would shade us from the sun.  Instead, we were sheltered from rain, sort of!  Saturday was cool and wet, but we did enjoy moments of sun and warmth.  Sunday was wet.  I'm sure there were moments of sun, too, but we didn't stick around to find out.  Instead, we packed up and headed towards home.  Catching a break in the rain, we stopped to enjoy a quick trek, through Watershed Park, before we actually arrived home and enjoyed a big, pancake breakfast!  All in all, it was a pleasant weekend get-away.  Most importantly, the kids loved all the quality time with Cousin Tavares, whom they adore.  Any time with Tavares is special.
