Allison celebrated her her 4th birthday on August 29th. What was supposed to be a small, but special celebration for our birthday girl, and also our first event in our new house, turned into a very eventful and memorable day. Based on the weather we had all summer long, we just assumed it would be an outdoor party. When it looked like there may be showers in the forecast, we figured that our covered porch would shelter us, or worst case, we would be indoors. With 2 unfurnished rooms in our new house, there is plenty of space for 3 and 4 year olds to roam and play. What we didn't anticipate was the wind. Lots of wind. It was the "large limbs flying off trees, knocking out power lines" kind of wind. We lost power early in the morning. It stayed out for 2+ days! In fact, we later heard that it was the biggest summer storm in Washington State on record. So, there's that kind of stormy birthday memory, AND then there was Allison's Woodland Fairy themed 4th Birthday party (in the dark) kind of memory. Both memories left quite an impression on our birthday fairy.

We celebrated all over again with family that evening. Still in the dark!
